Award-winning artist Alexandra Tyng captures the vitality and soul of Philadelphia’s art community with her fundraising project and exhibit, Portraits for the Arts.

Portraits for the Arts will feature 25 portraits of individuals with Philadelphia roots who have made a significant national impact on the arts.

Mission: Portraits for the Arts grew from Tyng’s impatience with the limitations of commissioned portraiture. “Many artists paint portraits because they can do what they love and give joy to others while earning a living,” Tyng said. “But you can also use art to reinvest in the arts. You can give the arts more power to make an even greater impact. Painting portraits to celebrate the power of art has limitless potential.”
